Job Description
As a Facade Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing conceptual, schematic, and detailed design solutions for facade design.
- Preparing detailed designs, calculations, and submissions for projects.
- Ensuring compliance with sustainability, fire, and materials directives and legislation.
- Liaising with clients and their representatives, including architects, engineers, and surveyors.
- Communicating and reviewing facade principles internally to ensure coordination with precast elements.
- Coaching and developing engineers and technicians in thermal, fire, and acoustic best practice.
- Maintaining accurate details and records, attending site as necessary to confirm installation.
- Managing and resolving buildability and performance issues through design, detailing, and coordination.
Necessary Skills and Requirements
- Relevant Degree in Engineering / Architecture / Construction.
- Minimum 5 years' experience working within the industry (facade experience essential).
- Ability to carry out thermal, condensation, and acoustic analysis of a range of façade materials.
- High levels of planning with an orientation towards design coordination.
- In-depth knowledge of construction & constructability practices & principles.
- Strong facade design experience.
- Excellent attention to detail, written and oral communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of building regulations essential.
- Knowledge of current BIM operating systems and standards along with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Project and BIM tools.
- Track record working with clients.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
