Job Description
Abbott is seeking an Automation Engineer to join its Engineering Department in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and supporting plant automation systems, ensuring compliance with quality and safety regulations, and driving continuous improvement on production lines.

Abbott Nutrition produces a range of infant formulae and follow-on formulae under the brand names "Similac" and "Gain". The facility processes 500,000 litres of milk per day from approximately 1,000 dairy farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and supporting plant automation systems
- Validating new equipment as per quality procedures
- Carrying out continuous improvement on production lines
- Ensuring compliance with quality and safety regulations
- Managing plant automation systems, including batching systems and predictive control systems
- Coordinating CAPA investigations impacting engineering
- Managing maintenance of medium voltage equipment and manufacturing UPS systems
- Measuring and analysing trends in OSI PI and Scada
The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent discipline, with 5 years of relevant experience in automation engineering. Experience working with Siemens PLCs is essential, and experience working on Scada is an advantage.
