Job Description

Job Summary: The Social Care Worker is responsible for ensuring a high-quality standard of care and support to all day attenders in Stewarts Care, in accordance with New Directions standards.



  • Provide oversight and governance of the assigned day service.

  • Manage day-to-day planning and activities of the assigned day services.

  • Lead a team within the assigned day service.

  • Provide staff supervision and have a good oversight of staff training and performance.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with the people we support based on equality and respect.

  • Reporting to the Service Manager on a regular basis on the effective operation in their work location.

  • Ensure that the needs of the people we support are being constantly met.

  • Maintain full and effective communication with families and anyone else involved in supporting and caring for the people we support.

  • Develop and maintain effective communication with all colleagues regarding the people we support.

  • Implement operational plans as determined by Care Management.

  • Facilitate the people we support with the development of life skills, education, and personal goals through their keyworker role.

  • Ensure that all efforts are made to cater for the physical and emotional needs of the people we support to ensure the highest quality of care.

  • Have oversight and governance of the activities as detailed in each person's personal support plan.


Requirements:



  • Level 7 Degree in Social Care.

  • Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to the values of Stewarts Care to improve the lives of our service.

  • Ability to work on own initiative.

  • Experience of working with people with complex needs in a variety of different situations.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • High initiative and integrity.

  • Must have knowledge of all relevant legislation and New Directions standards and a proven ability to implement same.

  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting the rights and needs of people with an intellectual disability.

  • Ability to make clear and concise reports regarding the people we support, either verbally or in writing.

  • High level of flexibility, a willingness, and an ability to develop new approaches to their work as a person's needs change.

  • A full clean driving licence is an advantage.
