Senior Business Development Manager

A leading food manufacturer seeks a Senior Business Development Manager to drive sales growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and nurture the B2B Sales team to deliver budget targets
  • Manage top customers to ensure high service levels and protect business interests
  • Monitor and assess delivery against targets, tracking volume, value, and timelines on B2B portfolio
  • Motivate and inspire the B2B team to exceed expectations and targets
  • Gather data to understand current and future needs of B2B customers and identify opportunities for growth and market expansion
  • Support and encourage the B2B sales team in creating new opportunities from existing customer portfolio
  • Work closely with sales and finance teams to ensure all SOPs are met and debtors are at a minimum
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams to represent the customer's viewpoint on quality, costs, delivery times, and pricing
  • Ensure timely commercial reporting for all interactions with customers, existing and potential

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-10 years in a similar position
  • Third-level qualification desirable
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving, demanding, and intense environment
  • Proven experience in business development and sales expansion/management in growth scenarios
  • Knowledge of Stock/Sauce/Fluids/butter market in UK & Ireland desirable
  • Extensive experience of B2B and food service market and pre-existing relationships in these sectors
  • Strong commercial acumen and numeracy skills essential
  • Highly motivated and resilient
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written/IT
  • Experience in an international environment and winning and keeping new accounts
  • Understand impact of decision making on business and customers
  • Have analytical and planning skills
  • Be a proven seller of solutions as opposed to off the shelf or packaged products
  • Have a good understanding of technical & quality matters and best practice in same in the food industry
  • Capable of hands-on problem solving, with ability to generate suggestions & solutions
  • Possess proven customer management skills and a positive attitude to dealing with people
  • Confident negotiator and ability to close the deal
