Job Description

Summary: We seek a Senior Dental Nurse to provide technical support in simulated and clinical patient treatment settings, with a focus on preparing for the implementation of a new undergraduate dentistry training program. About RCSI: RCSI is Ireland's only focused health sciences university, with a global reach and commitment to supporting people of all ages to live healthy lives. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in setting up and managing the Simulated Dental Learning Environment (SDLE), including preparing dental simulation units for clinical skills sessions and ensuring equipment is working correctly
Conduct ongoing maintenance of simulation equipment and associated instruments
Interface with equipment manufacturers and track software licenses and maintenance contracts
Monitor and manage inventory of dental simulation supplies and maintain accurate records of consumables and supplies
Participate in the design, development, and production of simulation models and assist in procurement processes
Ensure strict separation between simulation training equipment and clinical use equipment to prevent cross-contamination and maintain patient safety
Assist in practical teaching sessions, demonstrations, and clinical workshops for dental students
Keep abreast of current trends and developments within the discipline and contribute positively to team working within the School
Provide basic first aid assistance as required and assist with induction courses for students and organisation of clinical examinations
Promote a high level of safety awareness and implement defined safe systems of work
Manage the dental nurses as required and assist in chairside dental procedures as needed
Maintain an efficient and effective working environment and record the patient pathway on the electronic patient record
Co-ordinate the sterilisation and preparation of instruments and ensure a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the clinical areas
Report any untoward incidents and assist with team development and co-ordination of selected duties
Perform such other duties as may be assigned and be flexible and responsive to the needs of staff and students

Qualifications and Skills:
Hold a recognised Dental Nursing qualification and be registered with the Dental Council of Ireland as a Dental Nurse
Have experience as a dental nurse or dental nurse manager in a primary care dental practice, hospital or teaching environment
Have excellent IT skills to include Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Be a team player with excellent interpersonal, communications, and problem-solving skills
Be a problem solver, able to work under pressure, think outside the box, and innovative
