Job Description

Our client a wonderful Charity based in Dublin City are currently looking to recruit a Financial Accountant to join their team on a contract basis with a view to permanency. The role of the assistant Financial Controller is to manage, with the financial controller, the financial affairs of the organisation. They will provide the required reports, proposals, and information to assist in both Board and Management level decision-making processes. They will assist with providing high levels of support, oversight, responsibility and compliance that the Finance Department is expected to provide. The position will report directly to the FC and will play an important role in the implementation of the overall strategic plan, ensuring that a strong internal control environment is maintained and continuously improved. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Management of the day-to-day running of the finance function. Align the activities of the Finance Team to the overall company vision, mission, and objectives while always ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations. Help oversee the Procurement function, ensuring that procurement activities are planned and executed. Ensure effective cash-flow management, forecasting and banking. Oversee the pay-roll function (staff expenses, PRSAs, P35, reconcile payroll to financial statements) Monitor and control Debtors and Creditors. Review all financial transactions and manage the maintenance & archiving of relevant records. Financial Management, Reporting & Financial Controls: Manage the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements, and external auditors Interact with internal and external stakeholders on all financial related matters Help manage the preparation of annual budgets, in collaboration with the FC and Senior Management Team Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly accounting and financial reports Ensure books are prepared for Audit and liaise with external Auditors Support the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual budgets in consultation with the FC. Make recommendations on efficiencies and cost savings where appropriate. Manage the implementation and regular review of financial systems and internal controls ensuring the company fulfils its corporate governance obligations The above contains the main outline of duties. However, it is inevitable that tasks may arise which may not fall within the remit of the above list of main duties. Employees are required to respond with a flexible approach when ad hoc tasks arise which are not specifically covered in their job description. Should an additional responsibility become a regular part of an employees job, the Job Description will be amended to reflect this. This is not an exhaustive list. APPLICANT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge (Education & Related Experience): Appropriate professional qualification (ACA ACCA, ACMA) 1 year post qualification experience in a similar senior role in an organization with similar scale and complexity of operations would be a distinct advantage. Technical knowledge in the areas of financial accounting and reporting management accounting and financial planning, general business, information technology and taxation. Understanding of the application of legislation, to the financial requirements of the Company. Previous practical experience of public procurement guidelines will be a distinct advantage. Specific working knowledge of Accounting and Payroll software used in accounting and financial applications (e.g. Spreadsheet (advanced excel), financial statement presentation and databases). Key Skills: Ability to lead and manage the team within a fast paced, dynamic and changing environment. Ability to produce insightful reports and disseminate key information to support decision making at management and Board level. Problem solving skills - a person who can identify, address, and resolve problems. Implementation and development of accounting systems to achieve continuous service improvement Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Advanced interpersonal and influencing skills. Excellent planning and organisational skills. Ability to communicate financial information to colleagues at all levels of the organisation and to external stakeholders.
