Job Title: Activity Coordinator, Mental Health Hospital Location: Rathfarnham, Dublin Contract Type: : Permanent, full-time Mode of Working: On-site Salary: €31,500-€35,500 DOE Hours of Work: 78 hours fortnightly We have an exciting opportunity for an Activity Coordinator to play an integral role in a friendly, dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team and make a significant contribution in the area of rehabilitation. About service: This Hospital setting provides a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with a range of severe and enduring mental health needs such as Alzheimer`s, Parkinson`s and Huntington`s Diseases, as well as individuals with early onset dementia, schizophrenia and mood disorders. There is a focus on creating a therapeutic environment by using recovery oriented clinical practices and therapeutic interventions, which are evidence based to enable and support patients to achieve their highest level of functioning and quality of life. Responsibilities will include: Develop a professional rapport with residents. Ensure that residents are greeted and welcomed to participate in activities that are appropriate to them. Obtain information from residents and/or their families regarding their interests and skills. Plan activities programmes collaboratively with individual patients. Organise, supervise, and implement therapeutic and recreational programmes for the patients in conjunction with activity team colleagues. Plan, supervise, and accompany patients on appropriate outings. Engage patients in both group and individual activities as deemed appropriate. Observe general behaviour, ability, and response from residents. Record observations in the in the resident's clinical notes and communicate it to the ward nursing staff and wider MDT team. Take part in the audit process in relation to recreational and activity programmes in line with regulation requirements of the Mental Health Commission. Maintain competency and practice in attendance at and completion of required training and education. Qualifications: QQI Level 5 (8 modules) in Healthcare or equivalent is an advantage. Minimum of 6 months experience as an Activities Coordinator, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Healthcare Assistant. Previous experience in a mental health setting is an advantage. Category B Full Driving License is desirable.
