It is commencing a journey to significantly transform the approach to processes and systems across the company. The Actuarial Development team supports the development and oversight of the CL Re actuarial models, methodologies and assumptions. The team will play a central role this transformation journey. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of reinsurance transactions, actuarial models and a variety of software (e.g., Prophet, DCS, SQL, Excel, VBA and R). They will work alongside and learn from skilled and experienced actuaries in his space. What you will help us to achieve The breadth and depth of responsibility of the role will be tailored to suit the skills and experience of the successful candidate who will: Support the development of the actuarial models through rigorous testing and validating of model changes using analytical skills and a keen attention to detail and presentation. Support the design, development, and implementation of improvements to the models and surrounding processes with a desire to further improve their own coding and development abilities. Design, communicate and adhere to long-term project planning ensuring that key milestones are reflected and achieved on schedule. Communicate model validation results with stakeholders ensuring that the full breadth of model functionality and limitations are well understood. Work with the Modelling team, the Transaction Reporting teams and the various actuarial teams to implement new transactions into the production framework. Draft accurate, clear and concise documentation and effectively communicate key insights and results to all stakeholders (Head of Actuarial Development, Head of Actuarial etc.). Review and develop the relevant actuarial modelling methodologies and techniques. This will include keeping up to date with industry developments. Support the design, development, planning and implementation of relevant CL Re and Group projects and strategic initiatives. Process and system developments will be a key priority over 2025 - 2027. Keep up to date with best practice through engagement with colleagues across the Division, Lifeco, the relevant professional bodies and individual research. What you will need to be successful in the role The ideal candidate will have: Completed the actuarial examinations with at least three years relevant experience in either a life insurance or life reinsurance environment. Some experience of data management and manipulation, cash flow modelling, model development or actuarial reporting. An enthusiastic approach to work with a strong work ethic, a keen appetite to learn and develop and a willingness to work to a flexible schedule. An assertive and self-motivated personality with the capacity to work autonomously, as part of a team and across teams. Strong analytical skills with the ability to reliably challenge, test, and validate new model developments. An ability to plan work, manage time effectively and deal with changing requirements to ensure timely completion of all deliverables. The capacity to effectively and efficiently to solve problems and make decisions to ensure successful completion of deliverables. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in the use of MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word and MS PowerPoint. Experience of modelling software (ideally Prophet), SQL, Excel VBA, and an understanding of coding standards and best practice.
