Job Description

The Model Risk team are recruiting for an Analyst or Senior Analyst. The responsibilities of this position involve working as part of the Model Risk Team to perform 2nd line validations of models and to manage the model risk of the bank. The validation activities involve assessing the effectiveness and predictive power of all PTSB's risk models, including all Internal Ratings Based (?IRB?) approach models, IFRS 9 models, ICAAP models, ALM & Liquidity models and other commercial models. The model risk management activities include managing the Group's model inventory, managing issues logs and supporting the Group's model governance activities. This is a role suited to someone with a high attention to detail and a passion for data. Candidates with appropriate experience will be considered for the Senior Analyst or Analyst role. Responsibilities: Manage and bring to completion all assigned reviews (?validations?) of IRB and non-IRB models, ensuring these are completed accurately and efficiently, in line with standards and guidelines; Play an active role in the ongoing development and enhancement of validation methodologies so as to ensure that those used are appropriate and refined in response to environmental changes, and that the internal standards/guidelines are updated as required. Support your manager and other team members in developing through completing peer reviews that seek to stretch and challenge. Seek others to do the same for you; Be committed to delivering high quality results for yourself and for the team. Agree clear goals and work to meet and exceed all expectations. Display high levels of enthusiasm and energy in delivering on the tasks you have been set; Exchange written and oral information and ideas in a clear, concise manner appropriate to the audience. Collaborate with other team members to complete tasks, and encourage others to work across boundaries to deliver the best results; Break problems into their component parts; gather relevant data which results in a considered decision being made. Look for solutions or new ways of doing things in response to identified problems or issues and be able to think on your feet; Review progress against stated action plans and work towards achieving deadlines to ensure agreed plans are kept on track. Work together with your managers to bring plans back on track if obstacles are found. Requirements: Essential A high level of quantitative ability up to at least undergraduate degree level in a highly numerically oriented subject such as physics, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, quantitative finance, engineering or general science; Have a proven ability to analyse and manipulate data; Experience of general programming in any language, e.g., R, Python, Java, Matlab, etc.; Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience, with a knowledge of Excel macros being advantageous. Desired Experience with SAS and SQL programming, or the use of statistical software packages; Previous experience in a risk modelling/validation environment; An understanding of the key components affecting the performance of risk models; Experience and ability in relevant statistical analysis and techniques, e.g. as part of a degree course or otherwise; An ability to communicate the output of quantitative analysis in a concise and clear manner (good report writing and presentation skills); An ability to work in a team environment with changing priorities and time pressures; Good analytical, problem-solving, communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills; Stakeholder management experience; For Senior Analyst level, 3+ years? experience working as a risk analyst, model developer, quantitative analyst, data scientist or data analyst.
