Job Title: APPEL Operations Pharmacist (Part Time) Department: APPEL Reporting to: APPEL Director & National Coordinator Location: RCSI, Beaux Lane House, Mercer St Lower, Dublin 2 Contract/Duration: Temporary Part Time (3 days/week) - 3-year fixed term contract Closing Date: Thursday, 10th October 2024 About APPEL: APPEL is a consortium of the Schools of Pharmacy in UCC, RCSI School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences and the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in TCD and manages the experiential learning placements for the integrated pharmacy programmes of the three Schools of Pharmacy. Summary of Post APPEL is seeking a highly motivated pharmacist on a part time basis (3 days/week) to undertake a key role in the recruitment and management of quality assured experiential learning placements for MPharm students in the three Schools of Pharmacy in Ireland. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a small team, in a dynamic environment with an exciting strategic growth agenda. The objectives of this post are: To support the Director and National Coordinator (DNC) in achieving APPEL's strategic and operational objectives. To support the delivery and advancement of APPEL's contribution to pharmacy leadership, training, education and professional development. To build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. To develop, evolve and support the structures assuring quality assurance of placements and trainers. Specifically, the duties of the post are: Developing strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders. Engaging with stakeholders to identify, recruit and secure student placements. Administering pharmacy student placements in line with established governance and operational procedures. This will include administration of the APPEL online placement systems and of the training establishment and trainer accreditation processes. Reviewing, creating and updating APPEL governance documentation including APPEL's policies and procedures. Ensuring stakeholders are supported in an accurate, professional, courteous and timely manner, and that agreed service levels are achieved. Managing placement, training, IT and matching queries from students, placement providers and Practice Educators. Providing administrative/helpdesk support as required. Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required from time to time. Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time. Qualifications: Eligible to be registered as a pharmacist in Ireland (essential) 3 years post registration experience (highly desirable) Qualifications relating to quality/education/ governance (desirable) Person Specification: The successful candidate will have: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Excellent influencing and negotiating skills. Requires minimum direction to effectively deliver on assigned functions, and demonstrates a positive, solution focused approach to addressing challenges. Some flexibility regarding the working schedule. Good computer literacy (particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Good working knowledge of the pharmacy workforce landscape. Desirable: Experience as a patient facing pharmacist. Experience as an educator or in training programme development. Governance experience including SOP creation and management.
