Kepak Kilbeggan is currently recruiting for an Apprentice Fitter to join the maintenance team in a busy beef abattoir plant.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for all aspects of machine and equipment maintenance, specialising in the repair of industrial equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the repair of industrial production equipment such as machines, conveyors, packaging machines, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulics.
  • Implementing preventative maintenance programmes for all machines in assigned areas.
  • Monitoring all machinery and equipment within the plant.
  • Repairing machines and equipment in real-time to get them back up and running within an optimum timeframe.
  • Documenting all aspects of maintenance work carried out and keeping management informed of potential issues.
  • Adhering to company safety policies at all times.

Requirements:

  • A keen interest in learning about machines and conveyors, packaging machines, gearbox repairs, air automation, hydraulics, and welding.
  • A keen interest in learning the trade of a fitter within a manufacturing/industrial setting.
  • Basic knowledge of using computers is an advantage, training provided.
  • Flexibility, open to new ideas and work practices.
  • Good communication skills, enthusiastic, hardworking, and energetic.
  • Able to deal with pressurised situations and remain calm and focused.
  • Flexibility to meet peak work demands as required.
  • Basic electrical knowledge is an advantage, but not essential.
