Kepak Kilbeggan is currently recruiting for an Apprentice Fitter to join the maintenance team in a busy beef abattoir plant.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for all aspects of machine and equipment maintenance, specialising in the repair of industrial equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the repair of industrial production equipment such as machines, conveyors, packaging machines, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulics.
- Implementing preventative maintenance programmes for all machines in assigned areas.
- Monitoring all machinery and equipment within the plant.
- Repairing machines and equipment in real-time to get them back up and running within an optimum timeframe.
- Documenting all aspects of maintenance work carried out and keeping management informed of potential issues.
- Adhering to company safety policies at all times.
Requirements:
- A keen interest in learning about machines and conveyors, packaging machines, gearbox repairs, air automation, hydraulics, and welding.
- A keen interest in learning the trade of a fitter within a manufacturing/industrial setting.
- Basic knowledge of using computers is an advantage, training provided.
- Flexibility, open to new ideas and work practices.
- Good communication skills, enthusiastic, hardworking, and energetic.
- Able to deal with pressurised situations and remain calm and focused.
- Flexibility to meet peak work demands as required.
- Basic electrical knowledge is an advantage, but not essential.
