Area Sales Manager leads sales growth in the area through our network of distributors. A professional image is presented to existing and new customers. The role involves building and maintaining relationships, achieving sales targets, leading teams, resolving customer issues, reporting on KPIs and collaborating with the marketing team. Strong relationships are developed with other departments to facilitate strategies for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Relationships: build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with existing and potential customers in the area.
  • Sales Growth: achieve sales targets by creating business development plans focusing on expanding the customer base and driving revenue growth.
  • Team Leadership: work with, lead and inspire teams to ensure their success and continuously grow sales.
  • Customer Issues: resolve any customer issues in a quick and efficient manner, driving continuous improvement.
  • Reporting and Analysis: report on KPIs, sales data, market trends and customer preferences. Use this data to identify opportunities and inform strategic decisions and necessary actions.
  • Marketing Collaboration: collaborate with the marketing team to design and implement effective promotional campaigns.
  • Competitor Knowledge: retain and communicate extensive knowledge of competitors and their activities in your territory.
  • Operational Relationships: key point of contact for operational relationships.
  • Departmental Relationships: develop strong relationships with all other Departments such as Production, Quality, NPD, Administration and Marketing and use these platforms to facilitate strategies to develop and grow.
  • New Product Development: new product development and existing product development.
  • Strategic Planning: strategic planning and success measures i.e. sales, market share, analysis and in-store profile.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3 years + experience in a similar sales-based role within the food industry.
  • Business Development: demonstrate success in driving business development.
  • Conflict Resolution: conflict resolution acumen.
  • Strategic Thinking: strong strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Organisational Skills: strong organisational, planning, time management, project management, negotiation and anticipatory skills.
  • Numerical Ability: strong numerical ability.
  • Leadership: proven ability to lead and influence at all levels.
  • Driving Licence: full clean driving licence.
