Job Description

Full-time Assistant Accountant role at Festina Lente, a unique equestrian and horticultural organisation providing a range of activities and services with a focus on social inclusion and personal development.

As an Assistant Accountant, you will assist in various aspects of financial and management accounting functions, supporting the Financial Controller and wider Finance team with the month end process, including preparation of Management Accounts. You will process all financial transactions relating to the on-site shop, assist with the analysis of monthly P&L activity, review and reconcile balance sheet accounts, and manage the fixed asset register.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the Financial Controller and wider Finance team with the month end process, including preparation of Management Accounts
  • Process all financial transactions relating to the on-site shop
  • Assist with the analysis of monthly P&L activity, including splitting of costs across branches
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including prepayments, accruals, and control accounts
  • Manage the fixed asset register
  • Assist with the development of Internal Controls and process improvement
  • Assist with internal and external audit engagements

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the overall strategic planning of Festina Lente
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be assigned to you by the CEO

The ideal candidate will have 3 years' experience in a similar role, with a strong background in accounts and a thorough, logical approach. They will be competent in IT skills, particularly Excel and the use of spreadsheets, and have a high level of concentration and attention to detail.

Key Qualifications:

  • 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • IAT or part-qualified ACCA desirable
  • Knowledge of accounts package, preferably SAGE
  • Competency in IT skills, particularly Excel and the use of spreadsheets
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • A thorough, logical approach
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Dynamic problem-solving skills
  • Strong commercial sense

Conditions of Employment:

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience
  • Hours: 39 hours per week
  • Pension: Employees have access to PRSA scheme
