Assistant Accountant Our client is a leading accounting and consulting firm operating in the Irish Retail sector. Due to significant business growth they have an exciting new opportunity open for an Assistant Accountant. The successful candidate, ideally part qualified, will take on the role of Account Manager based at the company office in Macroom, They will liaise with clients reporting and accounting as well as managing a small team of Trainee Accountants. Hybrid working is available post the settling in period. Duties: Assist in the preparation and review of management accounts. Review and present weekly KPI to the Senior Account Manager. Dealing with financial control issues arising out of KPI reports. Suggesting improvements to clients and colleagues where necessary. Evaluate and implement effective internal controls. Overseeing the accounts payable function. Working capital management, prepare and submit VAT Returns. Providing full financial control services to clients. The Person: Part-qualified or part-experienced accountant. Proficient in all aspects of accounts preparation. Strong attention to detail. Ability to train and supervise junior staff. Excellent organisational skills and be capable of working on own initiative and to tight deadlines Understanding of the retail sector (advantageous but not essential) Available to start immediately (highly desirable but not essential) Criteria: Ideally hold a relevant third level degree Currently studying for a professional accounting qualification. Have previous experience within a similar accounting role in a retail environment. Full retail accountancy training will be provided.
