Assistant Director of Nursing (Forensic Psychiatry) in County MeathOur client is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing with a specialism in Forensic Psychiatry to join their team. This role requires someone who can take a lead in providing high-quality, biopsychosocial-informed care for patients with mental disorders within their mental health service.About our Client:Our client, a leading provider of residential care for individuals with Intellectual disabilities and mental health, are hiring a Assistant Director of Nursing for a new Mental Health Service based in Meath. This service will provide specialised inpatient mental health care and is seeking experienced and passionate Assistant Director of Nursing to join our client in their dynamic team. Embracing values of dignity, respect, and diversity, they foster meaningful relationships and high standards of quality and safety.Main DutiesEnsure Individual Care Plans (ICPs) are up-to-date and that services are delivered to the highest quality and safety standards.Adhere to the local safety statement, including risk assessments and standard operating procedures.Follow all company policies and procedures.Use company IT systems responsibly and maintain data security as per General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).Act responsibly at all times and cooperate with regulators in the best interests of the service and its users.Maintain the highest level of infection control standards as directed by company policy and national best practice guidance for Safety, Health, and Welfare.Comply with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines.Assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care, supporting the nursing team in these tasks.Develop and evaluate individual care plans in conjunction with patients, carers (where relevant), and other professionals.Clinical ResponsibilitiesProvide a nursing assessment of patients admitted to the service.Prepare for, participate in, and attend ward rounds and other multi-professional meetings, such as Tribunals.Ensure a high standard of nursing in clinical procedures and treatments, including the custody, storage, and administration of medicines.Maintain a high standard of nursing care during procedures and treatments through supervision and instruction.Protect and maintain patients' rights under the Mental Health Act.Assist the Director of Nursing to ensure staff are aware of individual care plans and objectives.Supervise and appraise junior staff members.Take charge of the Centre in the absence of the Director of Nursing.Exercise leadership within the service, ensuring sound organization, good communication, and relationships within the nursing team and the MDT.Inform the Director of Nursing of any professional issues as necessary in line with NMBI codes of conduct and support initial investigations as required.Participate in planning and preparation for MHC visits and inspections.Lead in working alongside outside agencies to ensure effective communication across services.Skills RequirementQualification:Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (QQI Level 8 or higher) or working towards and/or equivalent may be an advantage, or a contractual undertaking to acquire within 3 years from the date of appointment.Knowledge:Familiarity with the Health Act 2007, The Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice.Experience:A minimum of 5+ years post qualification/registration Psychiatric nursing experience.A minimum of 3+ years relevant experience in a management position within the area of Psychiatric nursing.Skills:Ability to empathise with and understand the needs of others.Strong desire to be one's best.Excellent organisational skills; self-motivated and self-starter.Excellent verbal, written communication, and IT skills.Willingness to work as part of a multi-departmental team.Willingness to learn.Dedicated, reliable, and flexible approach to work.BenefitsCompany PensionContinuous Professional DevelopmentFantastic development & career opportunitiesLife Assurance/Death-in-ServicePaid Maternity/Paternity LeaveEducation AssistanceEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP)Bike to work SchemeRefer/Retain a friend bonusDiscounts with Retailers – NationwideIf this sounds like the Nurse Job for you then click ‘APPLY’ to send us a copy of your CV. #J-18808-Ljbffr
