Job Description

Job Summary: The Health and Safety Authority seeks an Assistant Principal: Data Management to oversee data management, analytics, and governance, driving the Authority's data-driven transformation.

The role involves leading a technical team to ensure high-quality, comprehensive, and accessible data informs decision-making processes, enabling efficient service delivery and evidence-based policy formulation. The successful candidate will increase the Authority's collective data maturity, develop capabilities, and transition the organization towards a data-driven and insight-led entity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of direct reports, fostering a positive working environment and supporting their professional and personal development.
  • Drive the evolution and repositioning of data within the Authority, supporting the delivery of the Data Strategy.
  • Transition the Authority towards a data-driven and insight-led organization, progressing data innovation.
  • Understand the Authority's data requirements, designing reports to support decision-making.
  • Interpret data from multiple sources to provide evidence for decision-making.
  • Ensure a coordinated, consistent approach to data management, including establishing clear accountability and robust processes to manage data risks.
  • Improve data quality, governance, and transparency, developing a Data Governance Framework and a Data Quality Framework.
  • Collaborate with other business units to maintain and enhance data quality across disparate data sources.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of work processes, evaluating activity, reviewing targets, and delivering increased value and benefit to the business.
  • Oversee research and reporting activities, adhering to statistical and research methodologies.
  • Represent the Authority at national and international working groups.

The role has a nationwide remit, with regular attendance at the Authority's head office required. The Authority reserves the right to change the primary location to any other place within Ireland.
