As a technical leader, you will lead the global team in creating innovative CNS solutions for our global commercial aviation stakeholders. The Applied Research & Technology organization in Cork, Ireland, seeks an Associate Director with demonstrated technical expertise in next generation commercial aviation CNS technologies to lead our Connected Systems group. As a technology leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for project execution, technology ideation through transition, and professional development of technical staff. As a member of the ART leadership, the successful candidate will also contribute to strategic planning, business development, and engagement with our internal and external stakeholders. What YOU will do: Identify, promote and oversee the execution of projects applicable to multiple lines of business. Lead, define and communicate the long-term strategy for connected and networking technologies coordinated across the company. Work with the business leaders to capture operational CNS concepts and requirements, and develop operating plans and implement solutions aligned with the strategy. Promote training and engagement of the technical staff. Oversee the development and demonstration of technology prototypes supporting technology transition to Collins business units. Market innovative technology offerings to external technology customers, both aligning technology development with customer priorities and influencing technology customer interests. Represent Collins on national and international working groups and industrial standard bodies as appropriate. Education & Experience: An advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience. Skills you must have: Demonstrated experience and knowledge in CNS-related research & development, including driving early-stage concepts through to technology transition. This could include experience in areas such as communication waveforms, protocols, and communications network design, including space-based systems, ground-based or airborne radar system design, satellite-based or other navigation technologies, or related domains or technologies. Experience managing cost and schedule performance in a deadline schedule driven environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization. Leadership experiences mentoring senior and junior engineers. Must be willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time. Skills we Value: Understanding of technologies relevant to CNS technologies and systems specifically deployed in aeronautics and aviation domains.
