Job Description

Our thriving Water Engineering business is seeking a skilled hydraulic engineer to lead, develop, and expand our Specialist Hydraulics team and contribute to our exciting portfolio of multimillion-pound UK Water Industry projects. Our team is responsible for conducting hydraulic analysis and designing water/wastewater treatment plants and pipelines for a diverse range of clients.This role represents a great opportunity to lead professionals, leveraging their collective expertise to deliver innovative solutions on a diverse range of projects that meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.Key ResponsibilitiesLeading teams with members of varying experience levels from Apprentice and Graduate through to Principal and Senior Principal level engineers.Working collaboratively with various other design discipline engineers on projects and being a decision maker, driving projects forward and leading critical decisions.Developing robust, reliable, innovative, and cost-effective hydraulic designs.Preparing design reports that detail the calculations/analysis performed and their key findings.Estimating and budgeting man-hours for design tasks.Ensuring that all activities adhere to Health and Safety Regulations and Accepted Industry Practices.Validating all deliverables, including calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications, taking the role of a Lead Verifier in accordance with our Quality Assurance (QA) system.Being Part of the TeamOur modelling community provides technical services into a broad range of water resources and water engineering projects across the UK - from project appraisal and business case development, through design to operation, maintenance, and asset management. We are an industry leader in the application of Blue-Green infrastructure and nature-based solutions and we also advise and develop guidance which benchmarks industry best practice, meaning AECOM is at the cutting edge in the Water industry.Our work ranges from high-profile infrastructure schemes to locally significant projects that make a real difference to communities. We work with a large number of the water companies in the UK, private clients, and government entities. We also work on a number of very high-profile and prestigious projects overseas from our UK offices.From treatment plants and pumping stations to intakes, outfalls, and complex networks, our knowledge encompasses the entire industry. Utilizing industry-standard software, we craft innovative solutions for even the most challenging hydraulic problems. As a member of our team, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package with a range of flexible choices covering health, finance, lifestyle, well-being, and more.QualificationsHere’s what we will need from you:Proven experience in hydraulic design within the UK Water Industry.A professional chartership with one of the following institutes: CIWEM, IChemE, IMechE, ICE.Comprehensive knowledge of hydraulic design principles and experience collaborating with other disciplines, such as Process, Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical.Hydraulic design for water and wastewater treatment works typically using HADES but also bespoke analysis and calculation where necessary.Pressurised pipeline system design including rising mains and pumping stations.Transient analysis and design of surge suppression systems.Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics and clean and wastewater network modelling.Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing.Effective articulation of concepts and ideas for both technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to produce clear, accurate, and concise engineering reports and specifications.Additional InformationWant to find out more about the role or what working at AECOM is like?You can learn more about us here: 2023 AECOM Candidate Brochure (adobe.com)Can’t find a role that suits you right now?
