Job Description

Senior Manager position in Audit department of BDO Ireland, working with financial services clients, requiring strong technical auditing and accounting skills, management experience, and commercial awareness.

BDO Ireland's Audit department is expanding, and we are seeking a Senior Manager to join our team. As a Senior Manager, you will work closely with the department's Directors and Partners, contributing to the decision-making process and playing a key role in shaping the department's strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage client expectations and act as the primary point of contact for clients, working closely with Senior Executive levels to meet audit requirements.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients across various industries, including financial services, asset management, and banking.
  • Coordinate and project manage the allocation of staff resources to jobs, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting deadlines.
  • Lead teams on the planning, execution, and completion of audits, providing technical auditing and accounting assistance to team members and clients.
  • Report directly to Partners/Directors on engagements, assisting with managing the team's financial performance, including fee agreements, cash collections, and recoverability of WIP.
  • Design and deliver technical training, participate in coaching, mentoring, and appraisal of staff, and manage and coordinate pitches/proposals for new work.

Relationships:

  • Develop strong working relationships with managers and other team members, collaborating with peers in other teams/departments.
  • Act as the main point of contact for a range of clients, developing a good understanding of the firm's core values and how they apply to our objectives/strategies.
  • Share knowledge and experience with others, including on-the-job training of more junior team members, and assist with the preparation of clients' presentations, including board reports and tender/proposal documents.

Requirements:

  • ACA or ACCA qualification with a minimum of 5 years PQE.
  • Strong technical auditing and accounting skills, including knowledge of ISAs and IFRS.
  • Banking experience, with experience working on large, complex group audits an advantage.
  • Proven management skills and behaviours, with a strong market/commercial awareness.
  • Understanding of the operational aspects of managing an audit team and being accountable for results.
