Role Overview:

The Auditor is a critical member of our audit team, responsible for conducting and documenting routine audit examinations throughout Northern Trust Corporation. This role reports directly to an Audit Team Lead and is accountable for completing audits within stated budget, timeframes, and Department Policies and Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in meetings with business units to understand processes and discuss audit results
  • Assess the design of the control environment and identify potential weaknesses
  • Communicate with partners at all levels, developing and presenting recommendations on operations and controls
  • Evaluate corporate management, business processes, business controls, and operating practices during audits and consulting/monitoring engagements
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Northern Trust Audit Methodology and adhere to all applicable department standards
  • Complete and compile high-quality summaries of findings and recommendations in a concise, professional, and timely manner
  • Stay current on regulatory rules and changes within the industry
  • Manage and perform special projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Experience in a financial institution audit role or similar public accounting experience in the financial services industry is preferred
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CIA) are preferred
