Job Description

Job Summary: Experienced Controls Engineer sought to design and develop control systems and programming code for industrial automation equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Design and develop control systems and programming code within defined budget and time expectations.
  • Develop controls design activities and related documents following Greatech Processes & Standards.
  • Create specific programs based on customer and project requirements, adhering to the Greatech Coding Standard.
  • Participate in controls and validation activities, including testing and debugging, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Work closely with the project team to fine-tune PLC code during the testing and development phases of projects.
  • Provide support to customers on all advanced industrial automation equipment supplied by Greatech.
  • Interface with the Customer, Project Manager, Design Engineers, and other project team members to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Assist the management team in identifying new product opportunities and designing, developing, and testing PLC code in accordance with site coding standards.
  • Develop and test various aspects of automation systems, including robotics, vision, PLC, HMI/SCADA, and Motion Control.
  • Coordinate and manage the control elements of the build and debug process of equipment.
  • Complete the control aspects of projects within the allocated schedule and budget.
  • Assist in researching and implementing new control technologies to enhance project outcomes and efficiency.

Qualification, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
  • Qualified to an appropriate level of engineering and have a demonstrated track record in controls/PLC programming.
  • Experience with Computer System Validation (CSV) and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to ensure systems meet regulatory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of the requirements outlined in 21 CFR Part 11 itself.
  • Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley control systems including Servo motion control and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP & IO-Link).
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring projects are completed to a high standard and on schedule.
  • Ability to work as part of a flexible, dynamic team, while taking responsibility for individual tasks.
  • Understanding of GAMP 5 documentation standards is beneficial.
