Job Description
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day functionality of all GWWO automated systems in the GWWO Manufacturing and Packaging facilities. This includes both preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and end-user support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Automated systems project for the New Albumin purification and Filling facility.
- Develop and maintain SOPs related to the associated Automated systems.
- Lead and support the development of all necessary support system documentation related to the Automation systems.
- Support the Validation of the Automated systems designed specifically for the Manufacturing process.
- Provide technical support to the manufacturing operations department to ensure that the Automated systems are implemented and can be operated and supported within the facility.
- Provide technical lead support for requirements for understanding and implementing the MES, SAP, and other related systems.
- Ensure that the Automated systems are maintained in a validated condition and associated documentation.
- Participate in the site tier processes (routine operations support processes) and support a culture of continuous improvement at the site.
- Responsible for the delivery of Automation and Control Systems from design to commissioning and validation.
- Execute the full software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Train existing maintenance technicians on systems for prolific use and understanding of the systems.
- Work in conjunction with or under own guidance to develop and program new additions to existing systems.
- Test and validate the work and present it along with the relevant documentation.
Key Competencies:
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in implementing automation projects in Siemens Step7 and/or TIA Portal.
- Step7 and/or AB Studio 5000 PLC Programming languages (LAD/SCL).
- Experience in implementing SCADA or HMI projects in any of the market-leading software packages (SIMATIC WinCC, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, or Zenon).
- Database experience, such as MS SQL Server.
- A working knowledge of a CAD design package.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines.
- Excellent understanding of GAMP.
- Excellent understanding of electrical schematic drawings and P&ID's.
- Familiar with digital electronic regulations such as 21 CFR part 11 and EU Annex 11.
Person Specification:
- PLC and SCADA programming experience on systems such as Siemens TIA portal, Allen Bradley Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk V12.
- Able to read and understand technical documents, including electrical, P&ID, functional specifications, design specifications, and Grafcet/Process flow charts.
- Able to work on electrical panels for the purpose of connection to automated equipment and/or replacement/repair of such equipment.
- Working within a virtual engineering environment such as vSphere VMware.
- CISCO networking experience, specifically for CISCO IE-2000-8TC-G-E switches.
- Qualifications: Relevant third-level qualification(s) such as BSc in Computer Science, BEng in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or BEng in Automation.
