AWS EMEA Optical Deployment Edge Lead II, Infra - DCPD, ID EDGEJob ID: 2709416 | Amazon Data Services Ireland LimitedAmazon is looking to hire an Optical Project Lead, with a background in Long-Haul and Metro Optical deployments, to join our growing Infrastructure Delivery team responsible for Edge & PoP (Point of Presence) locations. Travel is an integral part of this role, with the right candidate having ownership of projects within the EMEA region, including the Middle East and Africa.Key job responsibilitiesOur Project Leads are empowered to take full ownership of projects from receiving the demand from internal customers, through implementing the deployment, creation of detailed deployment documentation, and finally handing over to our Operations team. Within the scope of this remit, you would own; tactical planning of the project, engaging external vendors to work within our space, configuring devices both locally and remotely, and deploying devices to the highest standards to support our customer needs.Strong writers will thrive within this role. As our global reach continues to grow, confidence to effectively report projects status is a necessity for this diverse and collaborative role, which might include documenting new processes and productsAdditionally, a successful Optical Project Lead would be confident in all aspects of Optical Projects deployments, from designing and negotiating unique Inside Plant Fiber solutions with external vendors that provide our customers with excellent Optical performance, to working with remote Network Engineers to turn-up sensitive Optical Transmission Equipment.About the teamAmazon offers a fast paced, fun, and exciting work environment. The desire and ability to work in an ambiguous/evolving, collaborative environment is essential for success.A key responsibility of the Project Lead role, is work outside of the base location. Up to 70% travel outside traditional work area may be required, including international travel.Please apply with your CV / LinkedIn ProfileBASIC QUALIFICATIONS* 3-5 years' experience in deployment of Optical Long-Haul and Metro devices, with strong understanding of Fiber Optic Transmission Technologies* 3-5 years' experience in TCP/IP, networking concepts, and troubleshooting network devices, cabling, and connectivity issues* Experienced in coordination of internal and external resources, with ability to lead migrations, device configurations, and rollout of new/upgraded hardware* Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies and experience with cabling best practices and test equipment* Ability to manage work and priorities through ticketing/workflow systems, with requirement to travel up to 70% and perform physical tasks up to 40lbsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* Relevant education (AS/BS) or 3-5+ years mid-level/enterprise experience as technician/engineer, with certifications like CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA* Experience in installing/designing Inside Plant Fiber solutions and testing Outside Plant Fiber networks* Ability to handle complex negotiations of custom Inside Plant Fiber solutions and communicate effectively with Carriers/Dark-Fiber Vendors* Strong understanding of Command Line Protocols, Networking Protocols, and experience in large-scale data-center network implementations and virtualized enterprise networking* Excellent judgement, analytical skills, and ability to prioritize tasks, with experience in IT best practice frameworks like ITIL, LEAN, AGILE, and Operational ExcellenceAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
