KERRY PARENTS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION Post: Basic Grade Clinical Psychologist Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (39 hrs per week) Location: The Old Monastery, Port Rd, Killarney, Co Kerry Travel on occasion will be required across all Association locations to ensure well-rounded assessments are provided to the people we support. Roster: Monday to Wed: 09:00 - 17:30 / Thurs & Fri: 09:00 - 17:00 *Please note, rosters may be subject to change due to the operational requirements of the service* We are looking for a motivated and empathetic Basic Grade Clinical Psychologist to become part of our team. The Role The Basic Grade Clinical Psychologist will work with community, residential and day service staff teams to provide psychological assessments, interventions, and support to adults with intellectual disabilities. The role will involve delivering a range of services including cognitive assessments, behavioural interventions, and therapeutic supports that help individuals maximise their quality of life, independence, and participation in the community. Additionally, this role will involve conducting comprehensive psychological assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions for individuals with intellectual, physical, and sensory disabilities. The post holder will provide therapeutic support, develop behaviour management plans, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff to ensure a holistic approach to care. The successful candidate will have strong clinical and assessment skills, experience with therapeutic approaches (such as CBT and Positive Behaviour Support), and the ability to communicate complex information effectively. Eligible applicants must have the following Have a university degree or diploma (QQI level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject. Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology. Or an equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health. Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for. Applicants with a clinical or counselling psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings, for the area/areas for which they wish to apply - Disability (Child and Adult), Child Psychology, Adult Psychology, either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post-qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist. Note: Applicants with an educational psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings for the area/areas for which they wish to apply, Child Disability, Child Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post-qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist. Note: Combinations of supervised clinical placement experience as part of the qualification and post qualification supervised work experience within a single care group area to give a total of 60 days are not acceptable. Desirable Experience with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), or other specialist therapeutic approaches. Experience working in residential or community-based settings. Familiarity with augmentative communication strategies for individuals with communication difficulties. Experience of working in a care delivery capacity, preferably within a disability service.
