Job Description

Summary: Provide effective, efficient, and safe pharmaceutical care to all patients at UPMC Aut Even Hospital. Primary duties include managing medicine shortages, developing SOPs, and contributing to medicines information and advice. Clinical pharmacy services involve auditing compliance, developing KPIs, and participating in multidisciplinary meetings. Leadership responsibilities include supervising staff, mentoring, and motivating team members, ensuring adherence to UPMC HR policy and procedures. Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage medicine shortages and develop SOPs for procurement, storage, and dispensing of medication

  • Contribute to medicines information and advice on drug availability and procurement to clinical staff

  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required for procurement, storage, handling, and dispensing of medication

  • Audit compliance to good clinical practice standards in relation to medication

  • Develop and compile reports on Key Performance indicators (KPIs) for the Pharmacy service

  • Supervise and line manage staff within the Pharmacy service as required

  • Support Pharmacy colleagues in enhancing their skills and assuming additional and advanced responsibilities

  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, hospital committees, and working groups as required

Requirements:

  • Be registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland or be entitled to be so registered

  • Possess the requisite specialised knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the role

  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development and role-specific learning

  • Excellent planning, organisational, and resource management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills

  • Experience of quality improvement initiatives
