Job Description

Behaviour Therapist - Kare Clinical Team Permanent Contract - 35 hours per week Based in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare Senior Supervisor/Instructor Salary Scale: starting at €39,120 to max €49,778 annually (DOE) The Behaviour Therapist will work as part of the Behaviour Support Team that is responsible for the assessment, intervention and development of support programmes for adults who have an intellectual disability and display challenging behaviour, using a person centred approach. Responsibilities Conduct, lead and facilitate the implementation of comprehensive behavioural assessments Assimilate and analyse data from observations and recordings Lead and facilitate the development of effective behaviour support plans and reactive strategies, including the recommendations from clinical specialists Ensure that multi-element behavioural interventions contain plans for monitoring progress using evidence-based measure of effectiveness Promote knowledge, understanding and skills in the principles and techniques of non-aversive behavioural support in the context of community inclusion Facilitate staff teams and families to increase the level of community inclusion for people with an intellectual disability who exhibit a challenging behaviour Promote the rights of individuals through the use of positive approaches to support individuals with challenging behaviour Keep up to date with the relevant changes and best practice in the field of Intellectual disability and challenging behaviour Requirements Applied Behaviour Analysis degree and training in the area of Positive Behaviour Support Minimum of 2 years experience working as a behavioural support therapist Experience in completing behaviour assessments and developing behaviour support plans with adults/children with disabilities Experience and skills to provide training to teams Excellent verbal and written communication and I.T. skills The ability to work as part of a team in dealing with difficult and complex situations Flexibility around working some evenings and may include occasional weekend work to provide support in the different natural environments of the individual A full clean driving licence and the use of a car is essential Benefits 25 days annual leave Paid Maternity/Paternity Leave (subject to service) Rewarding work with flexible hours Employee Assistance Programme Contributory Pension Plan Optional Salary Protection Plan Personal Development, Professional Growth and Career Progression A detailed Job Description is available on request.
