Job Description

The role involves managing engineering projects from concept design to implementation and handover, ensuring that all aspects of the project are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage project procurement, design, equipment vendors, construction contractors, commissioning, and qualification.
  • Manage the project through the stage gate process, ensuring that all milestones are met and that the project is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Resource planning for the project engineering team, ensuring that the team has the necessary skills and resources to complete the project.
  • CapEx approvals, local and corporate, ensuring that all capital expenditures are approved and managed in accordance with company policies.
  • Project planning, managing the planning of the project to meet key milestones and ensure that the project is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Cost control, ensuring that the project is delivered within budget and that all costs are accurately accounted for.
  • Coordinate cross-functional meetings to meet the objectives, including site change control process.
  • Report project performance on a regular basis to management using project reporting systems.
  • Write URSs (User Requirements Specifications) and develop qualification protocols when required.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage, review, and approve all design interfaces between customer teams and designers, vendors, and contractors to ensure that owner requirements are fully captured in the project design and delivered at handover.
  • Equipment procurement and contract awards, ensuring that all equipment is procured and contracted in accordance with company policies.
  • Prepare and submit CapEx applications at the appropriate stage gates, ensuring that all capital expenditures are approved and managed in accordance with company policies.
  • Manage the involvement of the customer team (both local and corporate) to the appropriate level, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project.
  • Ensure owner buy-in/sign-off to the appropriate level at each stage gate, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project.
  • Coordinate and manage the C&Q (Commissioning and Qualification) phase, ensuring that all aspects of the project are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Site Safety Culture

  • Responsible for promoting a safety culture within their area, ensuring that plant personnel adhere to safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Carry out practical assessments of team members to ensure safety and quality compliance procedures are being adhered to.
  • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees, addressing any safety concerns promptly.
  • Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses in a timely manner, implementing effective corrective and preventative actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Ensure closure of EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) actions raised from accidents, incidents, audits, risk assessments, etc. are managed and closed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained in the area.
  • Ensure risk assessments for the area are carried out, documented, reviewed, and communicated to all relevant personnel in the area.
  • Manage change from an EHS and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) perspective in accordance with site systems and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all safety and environmental-related issues are investigated in a timely manner, generating reports as required.
