Job Description

We are seeking a skilled BizOps Engineer II to join our Mastercard Connect BizOps team, responsible for solving complex problems, managing incidents, and driving DevOps transformation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in algorithms, data structures, and software design, with experience in working across development, operations, and product teams. They will be responsible for ensuring operational criteria are implemented throughout the delivery process, and will work closely with developers to design, build, and implement technology services.

The role requires a systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, and a sense of ownership and drive. The successful candidate will be able to help debug and optimize code, automate routine tasks, and design, analyze, and troubleshoot large-scale distributed systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging in the whole lifecycle of services, from inception and design, through deployment, operation, and refinement.
  • Analyzing ITSM activities and providing feedback to development teams on operational gaps or resiliency concerns.
  • Supporting services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
  • Maintaining services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
  • Scaling systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolving systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
  • Supporting the application CI/CD pipeline for promoting software into higher environments through validation and operational gating.
  • Practicing sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
  • Working with a global team spread across tech hubs in multiple geographies and time zones.
  • Sharing knowledge and mentoring junior resources.

Qualifications include:

  • A BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding.
  • Experience with algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design.
  • A systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
  • Ability to help debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks.
  • Experience in dealing with difficult situations and making decisions with a sense of urgency.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby.
  • Interest in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience in industry standard CI/CD tools like Git, BitBucket, Jenkins, Maven, Artifactory, and Chef.
