Job Description

The Director will have a central role leading the Meath Foundation in realising its mission. It is essential that the role operates in a manner that is consistent with The Meath Foundation’s values and strives to achieve excellence and continuous improvement throughout the organisation. The Director will have a shared responsibility (together with their fellow Directors) to oversee the organisation and to ensure it works to deliver upon its charitable objective. The Director will also be invited to join one of the Meath Foundation’s Board Committees (likely the Finance Audit and Risk Committee). The Director will be expected to attend 4 board meetings each year as well as 4 Board Committee meetings. Committee meetings are generally held virtually whilst Board meetings may be in person or virtual and are usually held within Tallaght University Hospital. The role also involves a range of responsibilities as follows: To act in line with The Meath Foundation’s Constitution. To ensure compliance with The Meath Foundation’s Code of Conduct for Board Trustees. Provide input into the strategic direction and leadership of the organisation. Commit to working in a way that aligns with best practice in relation to corporate governance. Ensure that decisions made are consistent with the strategy and values of The Meath Foundation and that they are implemented in a timely manner. Attend occasional events, training and/or seminars. Maintain accountability for compliance with stakeholder requirements (regulatory or otherwise). QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED Accountancy qualification and/or experienced Chief Financial Officer or Financial Controller. Experience working in/or on behalf of corporate and/or charitable organisations. Experience of risk management. Understanding of the roles/responsibilities of a Board of Directors. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Tact and diplomacy. Strong leadership skills. QUALITIES AND SKILLS DESIRED Experience or knowledge in investment management. Corporate management and/or governance experience. Experience in strategic planning.
