JOB TITLE General Operative - Skilled DEPARTMENT Production LOCATION Isle of Man Meats, Ballafletcher Farm Road, Tromode, Braddan, Isle of Man, IM4 4QE REPORTS TO Head of Production GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The line operative will take responsibility for efficiently delivering high quality meat products ready for the market. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Performing all stages of the primary conversion of cattle, sheep and pigs. Breaking carcasses into quarters for further processing Deboning into primals for wholesale and retail processing EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE Knowledge of animal anatomy and meat cuts Ability to use knives, saws, and other tools safely and efficiently Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy carcasses and work in cold and wet conditions Compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations Respect for animal welfare SKILLS & ABILITIES Ability to learn, manage and safely operate machinery Highly organized and driven, an effective time manager Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills Thinking and reasoning skills WORKING CONDITIONS HOURS / SHIFTS 39 hours per week with some flexibility required. Relocation Full payment of ferry costs, including vehicle to get to the island. Payment of shipping costs for transportation of household items to the island, capped at £2,500. Rent for 2 months. £1,000 towards paying utility deposits. Third party support to aid relocating eg tax registration, school registration, doctors etc Skills: Butcher Meat Processing Food Hygiene
