Job Description

Summary: Develop and implement a nurse-led care model for patients with complex antibiotic therapy needs, working closely with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary teams. The Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (cANP) role is designed to develop the skills and knowledge required to meet the National Medical Council of Ireland (NMBI) criteria for registration as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Health Care Providers Advanced Practice Stakeholder Governance Group to develop the job description and supporting documentation. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and implement a nurse-led care model for patients with complex antibiotic therapy needs • Work closely with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care • Provide clinical leadership and professional scholarship to develop nursing practice and health policy • Contribute to nursing research to shape and advance nursing practice, education, and healthcare policy Requirements: • Be a Registered Nurse on the NMBI Active Register or entitled to be so registered • Have a broad base of clinical experience relevant to the advanced field of practice • Be eligible to undertake a Masters Degree (or higher) in Nursing or a Masters Degree relevant to the advanced field of practice • Possess a high standard of suitability and clinical, professional, and administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the role Desirable Skills: • Advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in the management of patients with infectious disease and/or anti-microbial stewardship • Experience in teaching and assessing junior staff/nursing students • Working knowledge of healthcare patient record systems • Research/poster/publication experience The cANP will work in a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to the development of nursing practice and healthcare policy at local, regional, and national levels. The role requires a high degree of autonomy and independence, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care and advancing nursing practice.
