Category Buyer Our client is a leading semi-state body who currently require an experienced Category Buyer. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement specialist to join the Commercial Management team as a Category Buyer. The Opportunity As a Category Buyer, you will play a crucial role in developing, executing, and managing effective procurement strategies. Your focus will be on service performance, quality, cost, innovation, sustainability, and governance. Key Responsibilities: Procurement Expertise: Provide professional procurement expertise to achieve key business objectives, including cost management, delivery performance, risk mitigation, and innovation. Category Planning: Prepare detailed category plans for each subcategory of spend. End-to-End Procurement: Manage the entire procurement process, both above and below OJEU thresholds. Demand Planning: Support the demand planning process and ensure all deadlines are met. Commercial Strategies: Develop and manage commercial and contracting strategies that support the overall strategic procurement process. Innovative Delivery Models: Support the creation of innovative delivery models across all contracts and advise on contract risks. Performance Management: Implement performance management and supplier development programs. Tender Administration: Handle ongoing tender administration and financial requisition/purchase order governance and approval duties. Requirements A degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in category management, procurement, or supply chain management. Experience in spend profiling, supply market analysis, cost drivers, and presenting analysis, preferably within a regulatory environment. Experience in the utilities or energy sector Knowledge or experience in public sector tendering is highly desirable. Familiarity with running end-to-end procurement processes, both above and below OJEU thresholds. Experience in creating and managing commercial and contracting strategies, and advising on contract risks. Implementing performance management and supplier development programs. Ability to effectively communicate, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders. Working knowledge of various purchasing tools, platforms, and processes.
