Job Description

Reports to: Chairperson of the Board and the Board Location: County Roscommon, office based in Roscommon Town Hours: 37 hours per week, permanent, involving occasional evening and weekend work.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications About us: Roscommon Volunteer Centre is part of a national network of independent volunteer centres supported by Volunteer Ireland and funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
As a registered charity, we promote volunteering and provide a county-wide service connecting volunteers with non-profit organisations.
Our purpose is to support the people of Roscommon to have a flourishing, vibrant community, with volunteering at its heart.
Role Summary: The Volunteer Centre Manager is responsible for managing the operations of Roscommon Volunteer Centre, promoting volunteerism, and supporting both volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations.
This includes implementing strategic objectives, fostering innovation, and ensuring that the centre operates effectively in alignment with the Board's vision.
Key Responsibilities 1.
Volunteer Development and Support
• Promote and further develop the concept of volunteering throughout county Roscommon.

• Liaise with volunteer-involving organisations, consulting with them on their needs and matching these with the skills available.

• Supporting volunteer-involving organisations to enhance their volunteer programmes.

• Address barriers to volunteering for target groups and seek solutions.

• Keep up to date with volunteering matters, both regionally and nationally.
2.
Community Engagement and Training
• Network with the community and with voluntary groups, keeping them informed, and sharing best practices in all aspects of volunteering.

• Organise and deliver training for local organisations, and for volunteers, in areas relevant to volunteering.

• Serve as the National Vetting Bureau Liaison Person for the organisation, undertaking associated vetting duties.
3.
Financial and Resource Management
• Prepare and submit reports to funders.

• Identify and apply for appropriate additional funding opportunities.

• Manage budgets and financial reports in alignment with the organisation's objectives and governance.
4.
Board and Governance
• Prepare meeting packs, reports, and agendas for the board, in consultation with the Chairperson and/or Secretary as appropriate.

• Organise and attend board meetings, AGMs, and take minutes.

• Ensure that the organisation has proper policies and procedures, and complies with governance and charity regulations.
5.
Centre Operations
• Ensure the Centre is a welcoming, open and inclusive space for the public, providing a friendly and supportive environment for volunteers and community to enquire about volunteering.

• Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment of with the Board's directives.

• Recruit, lead, and support a team of staff and volunteers and people on CE/Tús schemes to run the Centre and its services.

• Organise and manage the usage of the centre as a community facility for the non-profit sector in County Roscommon in relation to supporting volunteering.

• Attend regional and national Volunteer Ireland meetings as appropriate such as centre managers' meetings
• Maintain accurate records and ensure data is managed securely.
6.
Events and Publicity
• Plan and execute volunteer training sessions and information events, for both volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations.

• Organise the annual Roscommon Volunteer Centre Awards and other relevant celebrations, including National Volunteer Week, etc.

• Represent Roscommon Volunteer Centre at local, regional, and national events to promote its work.
7.
Public Relations and Stakeholder Communication
• Promote Roscommon Volunteer Centre through media and maintain an active presence on social media platforms.

• Keep stakeholders informed via newsletters and other communications
• Attend regional and national volunteer events as required.
8.
Technology and Data Management
• Maintain and update the Centre's website.

• Maintain volunteer data using the I-Vol system and Salesforce.

• Ensure data security, proper archiving, backups, storage protocols, and compliance with data legislation.
PERSON SPECIFICATION Highly Desirable
• Third level degree and / or similar professional qualification.

• Proven skills in human resource, financial, and office management.

• Strong commitment to promoting and developing volunteering across County Roscommon.

• Relevant management experience.

• Proficient in IT, ideally including experience in Salesforce or similar client relationship management systems.

• Full clean driving licence and access to own transport is essential.

• Flexibility, with a willingness to travel throughout the County and work outside normal office hours.
Advantageous
• Experience as National Vetting Bureau liaison person and familiarity with the process.

• Knowledge of Ireland's public service system and local government operations.

• Experience in the community and voluntary sector, and insight into volunteerism challenges in Ireland.

• Background in public relations strategy and execution.

• Experience of public relations planning and delivery.

• Facilitation and training experience.

• Event management expertise.

• Experience in the implementation or management of a safety management system - or Environmental Health and Safety auditing - or Safety representative duties.
