Chairperson Vacancy Role The role of the Chairperson in a non-profit mental health charity organization is crucial in ensuring that the organization’s mission and vision are achieved. The Chairperson will be responsible for providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfills their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. The Chairperson will also support, and where appropriate, ensure that the Board functions as a unit and works closely with the entire Executive of the charity to achieve agreed objectives. The ideal candidate for this position should have at least 1 year of experience as a Chairperson and a passion for helping others. They should also have an interest in mental health and advocacy. The candidate must be living in the geographical area. The following are some of the responsibilities of the Chairperson: Strategic Leadership: Provide leadership to the charity and its Board, ensuring that the Charity has maximum impact for its beneficiaries. Ensure that Trustees fulfill their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the Charity. Ensure that the Board operates within its charitable objectives, and provides a clear strategic direction for the Charity. Governance: Ensure that the governance arrangements are working in the most effective way for the Charity. Develop the knowledge and capability of the Board of Trustees. Encourage positive change where appropriate. Address and resolve any conflicts within the Board. External Relations: Act as an ambassador for the cause and the charity. Maintain close relationships with key members of the Government and with key influencers. Act as a spokesperson for the organization when appropriate. Represent the charity at external functions, meetings, and events. Facilitate change and address any potential conflict with external stakeholders. Efficiency and Effectiveness: Chair meetings of the Board of Trustees effectively and efficiently. Good Governance: Lead on recruitment of suitable new charity trustees. Support new charity trustees through the induction process. Follow up with charity trustees on items or actions outstanding throughout the year.
