Job Description

Job Description The Smart Metering programme is a national infrastructure programme aimed at safely upgrading all 2.4 million electricity meters in the country with modern smart meters which allows for the development of new products and services delivering benefits to the customer, economy and the environment. As of August 2024, over 1.7 million meters have been upgraded and the remaining meters are due to be upgraded by the end of 2025. The ESB Networks Smart Metering Operations Centre (SMOC) is responsible for ensuring the quality and availability of smart metering services through monitoring, managing and maintaining smart meters, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems and ancillary services. This includes the accurate and reliable provision of smart metering data for key business processes including electricity customer billing. Position Description The Change Management Specialist role resides in the System Governance pillar within the wider SMOC team. The System Governance pillar is a key function in the SMOC and responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of data, the integrity of the system/assets and the integrity of the processes in the AMI landscape along with the orderly control of all additions, deletions or modifications of AMI firmware, software, configurations or supporting infrastructure. Key duties of the Change Management Specialist consist of the review, assessment and approval of any changes or modifications to the AMI landscape including the running of the Change Advisory Board forum, ensuring all changes to the operational landscape are fit for purpose and are aligned to business needs. Key Responsibilities Manage and implementthe AMI Change Management process end to end including the Change Advisory Board (CAB). Regularly review the Change Management process, and other key processes, to identify and drive improvement opportunities through to implementation. Develop and maintain the necessary documentation and training to ensure the Change Management process maturity is maintained and enhanced. Support the Problem Management process by monitoring Change and Incident trends to identify potential Problems. Support the Incident Management process, as required, ensuring incidents are appropriately logged, tracked and communicated to stakeholders. Support the Service Transition process and the handover from delivery teams to operations. Support the maintenance and development of the Service Catalogue. Liaise with Test teams to provide operational input into test plans, ensure adequate testing is being conducted and that the supporting documentation is made available. Experience and Qualifications Essential Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential. At least 2 years' experience working in a Change Management, IT Service Management or Governance & Compliance role. Self-motivated with ability to prioritise own work through to completion. Proven capability to deliver to deadlines and manage multiple priorities. Evidence of ability to analyse, identify and resolve issues and problems in a collaborative manner. Strong communications and report writing skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including relationship building and influencing. Proven ability in management of internal and external stakeholders. The ability to work and share competencies within a team structure. Desirable ITIL certification Experience with IT Service Management tools Knowledge of Change, Incident & Problem Management processes & procedures Knowledge of Electricity Meters and Metering Systems Location Dublin 2 Reporting to SMOC System Governance Lead Why Work with Us?
