Radisson RED Galway is a new and exciting addition to Galway City, opening this winter. It will be the first Radisson RED property in Ireland and a welcomed addition to the city. Just like its sister properties; Radisson BLU Royal Hotel, Dublin, Dublin Royal Convention Centre and Velvære Spa, Radisson RED Galway has its own distinct personality. We are searching for a motivated and skilled Chief Engineer to join our team at Radisson RED Galway. Radisson RED is on the lookout for an experienced Chief Engineer to lead our Property Maintenance Department. Reporting to the General Manager, this role isn’t just about fixing things – it’s about driving our strategic vision, fuelling business growth, and sparking a cultural evolution. As our Chief Engineer, you'll be the go-to person for keeping our operations smooth, efficient, and ahead of the curve. You’ll be the guru for keeping everything in tip-top shape, ensuring our space is safe, functional, and aesthetic. You'll be the mastermind behind the scenes, making sure all our mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems run like a dream, as well as managing the day-to-day maintenance and repair activities. - Minimum experience: 4+ years of relevant experience in property maintenance. - Minimum educational requirements: National academic qualifications / Degree in Engineering preferred. Roles & Responsibilities: Ensure the smooth running of the property maintenance department, where all areas of the property are maintained to the highest level ensuring both property and company standards are attained and adhered to. Working proactively to maximise guest satisfaction and comfort, delivering a positive and responsive approach to enquiries and problem resolution. Develop and implement strategies where key property maintenance metrics are identified, communicated and delivered where reports and tracking tools are effectively maintained in line with defined initiatives & targets. Effectively manage the life cycle of the team within the department, fostering a culture of growth, development and performance whilst reflecting promoting the company culture and values. Prepare and be responsible for the departmental budget, ensuring that costs and departmental inventory is controlled, and that target productivity and performance levels are attained. Build and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders and partners both internal and external ensuring all communications/activities are controlled and undertaken in a timely manner. Establish and deliver an effective planned preventative maintenance programme to address maintenance and environmental and conservation matters, which may include working with external contractors on ad hoc projects. Ensure adherence to all legislation where due diligence requirements and best practice activities are planned, delivered and documented for internal and external audit, performing follow-up as required. Competencies & Skills Requirements: Proven experience in property maintenance with strong problem-solving capabilities. Excellent leadership skills with a hands-on approach and lead-by-example work style. Commitment to exceptional guest service with a passion for the hospitality industry. Ability to find solutions, offering advice and recommendations. Personal integrity, with the ability to work in an environment that demands excellence, time and energy. Strong communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing skills. Outstanding engineering and property maintenance skills. Excellent ability to work collaboratively across functions and cultures in a global environment. Solid MS-Office knowledge. An open, positive and communicative personality.
