About MTLMoorepark Technology Ltd (MTL) was established in 1993 to facilitate technology transfer from Teagasc to the dairy industry. It is a joint venture between Teagasc and the dairy industry. MTL is a modern pilot-plant facility located in Fermoy, Co. Cork, containing versatile pilot scale processing equipment to enable technology transfer to the dairy and wider food industry both in Ireland and abroad. MTL has implemented a plan for growth over the past 8 years that included an investment of €10 million in plant and equipment by its shareholders. Supporting a changing global food system, MTL is embarking on development of a new strategy to provide scale up facilities aligned to innovations in sustainable food manufacturing.Chief Executive OfficerApplications are now invited for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), which will be filled on a 5-year fixed term contract basis with the possibility of one further five year term.Reporting to the MTL Board, the CEO will lead implementation of the strategic plan to grow the breadth and value of the company’s offering to a national and international customer base. The key responsibilities of the role include:Ensuring that the vision and objectives of the MTL strategic plan are achieved.Leading the implementation of the strategic plan using a participative change management approach.Overseeing the capital investment and modernisation of the MTL infrastructure.Ensuring strong governance and compliance with relevant statutes and governance codes.Providing leadership and direction to the MTL Operations team with the goal of providing the best technical innovation and customer service solutions.Developing new products and services which are directly relevant to MTL's current and potential customer base.Actively pursuing existing customers and potential customers with a view to ensuring that MTL achieves its growth targets.Person SpecificationQualificationsApplicants must hold a relevant Level 8 degree, as recognised on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), in disciplines such as business, accountancy or marketing, food science or similar.A relevant postgraduate qualification such as an MBA, or a postgraduate programme in the area of Leadership or Strategy would be an advantage.Candidates interested in applying for this position should submit the following documents to recruit@teagasc.ie no later than 12 noon on 14 October 2024:Cover letterUp-to-date Curriculum vitaeKey achievements form (template attached in Teagasc website link)Incomplete applications, or applications received after the closing date/time will not be accepted.MTL is an equal opportunities employer and is seeking to attract a balanced pool of candidates. Candidates for interview will be required to deliver a presentation at interview.Key Terms & ConditionsPost Type: Five year term appointmentProbation: Appointment is subject to an 11 months probationary period.Salary: €115,059 gross per annum. Future approved pay increases for MTL staff will apply.Annual Leave: The annual leave year runs from 1 January to 31 December.
