Job Description

Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) is actively searching for an ambitious CEO to guide its future. This is a once in a generation opportunity to shape and transform children’s hospital services in Ireland and the CHI organisation. The driving force behind this transformation is the commissioning of the New Children’s Hospital, poised to become a world-class paediatric facility. CHI was established on 1 January 2019. This saw Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and paediatric services at Tallaght University Hospitals come together and integrate into one organisation to deliver healthcare to Ireland’s children, in preparation for the opening of the new children’s hospital. We exist to care for Ireland’s children and adolescents when they need our services. We are excited to lead a major leap forward in paediatric care, research, innovation, education and teaching, and currently act as a client for the government funded capital project to build the new children’s hospital and a separately funded Children’s Research and Innovation Centre. A major ICT programme is underway to digitalise paediatric healthcare – as such we will be exemplars within the public health system in Ireland – operating the first public digital hospital. We will continue our tradition of treating and caring for children and adolescents in Ireland while transforming the paediatric services and the training of excellent people, using the best processes and contemporary models, informed by great research and innovation. Reporting to the Board of CHI, the CEO will: Lead the commissioning of the New Children’s Hospital, delivering a complex hospital transformation programme and ICT programme to digitalise paediatric healthcare to become a world-class paediatric facility. Fulfil the critical role of bringing together three distinct hospitals to form a new culture for CHI that will inspire the successful delivery of paediatric hospital services. Be accountable for maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and quality; collaborate with clinical leaders to drive continuous improvement. Develop a patient-centric culture of innovation, prioritise education and research structures for safe patient care, optimise collaboration with academic partners, and maximize health sciences research through the Children’s Research and Innovation Centre. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Provide strategic leadership across CHI’s many services and locations, and be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic vision for CHI. Oversee financial management and ensure the organisation’s long-term financial stability and growth. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate substantial senior leadership experience at Chief Executive or Senior Executive level in a large complex organisation, ideally in healthcare, combined with experience of building positive and fruitful partnerships and leading change at scale. The successful candidate will be an inspiring, passionate and inclusive leader who shares CHI’s values and can demonstrate significant transformation experience alongside a track record of successful service delivery. If you believe you have the drive, passion and experience necessary to take on this role, please submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae and supporting letter outlining how your experience fits the requirements, by email to: Siobhan Walsh, Partner, atOdgers Berndtson Ireland referencing CEO, Children’s Health Ireland. Candidates are being sourced from the advertising campaign and an executive search process. #J-18808-Ljbffr
