Job Description

The mission of the Department of Transport is to deliver an accessible, efficient, safe and sustainable transport system that supports communities, households, and businesses. The Digital Hub is a new structure which brings together all the core ICT and digital functions in the Department. It is responsible for overseeing technology strategy, technology operations, data management, data analytics and ICT project management.

Following the creation of the Digital Hub, the Department is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Director Level. The successful candidate will be a senior digital/ICT professional with the vision, energy, skills and experience to drive the digital transformation agenda in the Department and the wider transport sector.

The CIO will be the Director of the Digital Hub as well as the strategic leader on digital and ICT for the Department and the bodies under its aegis across the transport sector. They will also be the key liaison for both the Department and the transport sector with the Office of the Government CIO (OGCIO), and for ICT or digital related Government reform initiatives and working groups.

This is an excellent opportunity, to become a strategic leader on ICT and digital, in a dynamic government department.
