Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Department of Education

The Department of Education seeks a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the management of digital and ICT functions, driving operational effectiveness, mitigating cyber risks, and improving customer experiences.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in leading digital transformation and change, with a proven track record in programme and project management, governance, problem solving, risk management, and stakeholder management.

The CIO will provide expert leadership for digital and ICT policy and strategy, and the wider innovation and transformation agenda, reporting to the Secretary General.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the management of digital and ICT functions for a large organisation
  • Develop and implement digital transformation and change strategies
  • Manage teams and staff based in multiple locations
  • Influence senior management across the Department and in other organisations
  • Manage resources and finances in a resource-constrained environment
  • Anticipate and manage digital transformation and change
  • Drive and develop dynamic innovative change in a complex, fast-moving environment

Requirements:

  • Experience of leading digital and ICT functions for a large organisation
  • Leadership experience and a proven high level of management and organisational skills
  • Proven ability in relation to resource allocation and financial management
  • Extensive and successful experience in digital transformation and change
  • Proven track record in programme and project management
