Job Description

**Chief Information Officer (CIO)** To lead the Department of Education's digital transformation, enhancing operational effectiveness, mitigating cyber risks, and improving customer experiences. The Department of Education employs over 1,900 staff in four main locations. Its mission is to facilitate children and young people to achieve their full potential and contribute to Ireland's social, economic, and cultural development. The Department is the third largest government department, with an annual budget of over €10 billion. Harnessing Digital – The Digital Ireland Framework supports Ireland's ambition to be a digital leader, at the heart of European and global digital developments. As CIO, you will provide expert leadership for Digital and ICT policy and strategy, and the wider innovation and transformation agenda. This is essential in a fast-paced, transforming, technological age to ensure learners have access to a high-quality education supported by appropriate technology. **Key Responsibilities:** • Experience of leading the management of Digital / ICT functions for a large organisation • Leadership experience with proven high level of management and organisational skills • Proven ability in relation to resource allocation and financial management • Extensive experience in the anticipation and management of digital transformation and change • Proven track record of programme and project management This is a Top Level Appointments Committee (TLAC) position.
