Chief Operations Officer - Nursing Home Group The role requires a good deal of travel across our 12 homes. Salary c. €120k could push to €130k Benefits: Pension 7.5% Bonus 10% Healthcare allowance Possible LTIP available long term incentive plan The Role : Our client is a dynamic and rapidly expanding Nursing Home group, and we are part of the international group. We are recruiting a results-driven, commercially aware Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead the Operations team. You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Clinical Operations Manager (COM), Directors of Nursing (DONs), as well as the Executive team. The purpose of the COO role is to provide support and guidance to the COM and Directors of Nursing within the Group, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, regulations and management of the operations in a way that facilitates the achievement of the highest standard of care in all its homes. The role will also support the growth strategy of the business and work to achieve the ambitious strategy of the organisation. The COO will identify potential challenges and develop solutions that help the business thrive in a competitive marketplace. The role is also centred around continually enhancing resident care and satisfaction. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Strategic Leadership: Implementation/Execution of strategic plansProvide transformational leadership to the operations team, aligning strategies with the organisation's mission, vision, and goals. Develop and execute comprehensive operational plans reviewing the model of care to ensure we meet the current and future care needs of our residents, achieve business objectives, focusing on quality of care, and resident satisfaction. Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day operations of all nursing home facilities within the group in conjunction with the Clinical Operations Manager, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. Implement best practices to optimise operational efficiency, resource utilisation, and cost-effectiveness. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Establish and maintain a culture of exceptional care, including auditing and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Support the nursing homes in HIQA preparedness and any action/compliance planning that is required as a result of inspections. auditing Collaborate with relevant homes to conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement. Support and secure CARF reaccreditation for the relevant homes on an annual basis as well as upkeep of standards. Develop and report on Quality, Operational and Financial KPIs aligned with the organisations growth plans. Work with the CEO to develop and integrate appropriate KPIs for the Clinical Operations. Fulfil the HIQA requirements of PPIM/RPR for the Group where required. Submit HIQA registrations and applications to vary as necessary. Manage all resident related litigation matters in conjunction with our insurance company. Conduct and follow up on resident satisfaction surveys bi-annually. Team Leadership and Development: Build and lead a high-performing operations team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship. Foster a culture of high performance, diversity & inclusion as well as and employee engagement. Ensure staff survey action plans are developed and acted upon with the required timescales. Financial & Project Management: Working with the Group Bed Manager, the DONs and our key referrers to maximise occupancy opportunities wherever possible. Collaborate with the finance team to develop and achieve annual budgets and implementing corrective actions for adverse variances. Assist with the development of business cases where opportunities arise to improve the groups financial performance. Work closely with Finance Director and Directors of Nursing to achieve working capital budgets in all our homes. Assist and support in the identification of cost optimisation opportunities while maintaining the quality of care to our residents. Oversee and drive various projects and initiatives. Ensure that projects are executed efficiently, deadlines are met, and resources are allocated appropriately. This could involve facility expansions, new acquisitions, process improvements, or technology implementations. Stakeholder Relations: Continue to strive for exceptional care for our residents ensuring that their voice is at the centre of all our decisions. Cultivate positive relationships with residents, families, staff, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders. Act as a representative for the Clinical Operations providing support and information to the Group, as necessary, including Group internal audit requirements, ESG/CSR Data and quality framework. Work closely with the Community Services to include the CHOs, ICPOP, OPAT and RSCI hub. Serve as a spokesperson for the nursing home group, representing the organisation in a professional and positive manner. Maintain relationships and negotiate with GPs and Pharmacies where required. Develop an excellent working relationship with NHI (Nursing Homes Ireland), and work with them on strategies relevant to the industry challenges. Qualifications Relevant Leadership/Management Qualification Relevant Clinical Qualification (preferable but not essential) Experience Proven experience as a Chief Operations Officer or in a senior management role within the healthcare industry is preferable but not limited. 3 years experience in a managerial role in care of the older person would be a distinct advantage. Experience working at an Executive or Leadership level. Significant track record of achievement as a leader and senior manager in a medium - large organisation. Track record of achievement in a performance driven organisation. Proven experience in enhancing KPI outcomes. Exceptional strategic planning and execution abilities as well as experience in change management. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the healthcare sector. Strong Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial management with an in-depth understanding of profit and loss accounts. Experience in driving cost optimisation initiatives to positively impact the companys EBITDA and performing financial modelling to support business decisions. Prior project management experience coupled with a PM qualification/ training is preferable. Skills Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with interpersonal, and negotiation skills Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity with a track record of successful team management and development. IT skills, including proficiency in all Microsoft office packages. Self -starter with ability to work on their own initiative while bringing the team along with them. Strong problem-solving, influencing, and decision-making skills Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to analyse data and creating meaningful reports to aid business decision making. Ability to use data (e.g. KPIs.) to monitor and make change as required. Knowledge of the national standards Health Act 2007. Ability to travel across Leinster (Nationally on occasion) and holder of a Full Driver Licence Commercially focused as well as possessing an astute business and financial acumen.
