About us: St Jamess Hospital is Irelands largest acute academic teaching hospital and is based in Dublins south inner city. Our fundamental purpose is the delivery of health treatment, care and diagnosis as well as health promotion and preventative services at local, regional and national levels. Our academic partner is Trinity College Dublin. Purpose of the role:The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a pivotal role within the hospital and the change process. The COO will play a key role in the delivery of operational performance targets, access targets (urgent /emergency care and scheduled care) and financial management. S/he will assist with the continual improvement of the quality of services to patients by redesigning services to meet best practice standards, mitigating risk, improving efficiency and effectiveness within available resources. The COO is a member of the Hospital Executive Management Group and will also be in attendance at Hospital Board and sub committees reporting on Operational Performance. As an Executive Lead the COO will deputies for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), as directed.
