Childcare Worker - Midlands Visitor Centre - Permanent Part Time Location: Dublin Road, Portloaise Salary range: €14,260 per annum Experience: minimum FETAC Level 5 in Childcare or Early Educator Closing date: Tue, 29 Oct 2024 Description: SVP is a large, national, voluntary organisation with extensive experience of working with a diverse range of people who experience poverty and exclusion. SVP employs people to support volunteers in a variety of settings including housing, community care, shops, administration, and other specialist areas. The Role: We are currently looking to recruit a Childcare Worker (18 hours per week) to join our Child and Family Services team in Midlands Visitor Centre, Portlaoise. The post holder will have responsibility for the promotion, creation and maintenance of a welcoming and caring environment and to a high standard of childcare within the Centre. They will be familiar with and work in accordance with relevant legislation and within the employers' policies and procedures. Candidate Requirements: EDUCATION Minimum FETAC Level 5 in Childcare or Early Years Educator is essential. EXPERIENCE 1 year of experience in relevant childcare role is essential. Good Experience of working with this age group in general. Experience of working in the community or voluntary sector would be an advantage. SKILLS Candidate must have a good ability to work on his/her own initiative. Display enthusiasm and an interest in supporting and empowering young children and their families. A good listener, calm and understanding. An understanding and an interest in community development and social inclusion is-sues. KNOWLEDGE Demonstrated knowledge of underlying principles in early years education is essential Knowledge of the Society and of its mission and values. Knowledge of and empathy for the needs of children and families availing of our services Desired but not essential: Be honest and trustworthy. Be respectful.
