Description Speech and Language Therapist, Clinical Specialist (Paediatric FEDS) Job Specification & Terms and Conditions Job Title and Grade Speech and Language Therapist, Clinical Specialist (Paediatric FEDS) Remuneration The salary scale for the post is as at 01/10/2024: Campaign Reference CHW071-SLTCS-2024 Closing Date Thursday 31st of October 2024 at 12 noon Proposed Interview Date (s) As soon as possible after the closing date. Taking up Appointment A start date will be indicated at job offer stage. Location of Post There is a vacancy for Speech & Language Clinical Specialist available in Community Healthcare West. This is a Clinical Specialist Speech and Language post within CHW Paediatric Disability services. Reporting Relationship The Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will report to the Children's Disability Network Manager. Key Working Relationships The SLT Clinical Specialist will work closely with the Clinical Specialist Dietician and other members of the multi-disciplinary teams. Purpose of the Post The Speech and Language Therapist, Clinical Specialist will: Play a lead role in the development and provision of a high quality evidence based integrated care pathway for children presenting with complex FEDS difficulties. Promote family centred practice, interdisciplinary working and evidence based best practice. Act as an advanced clinical resource to speech and language therapists and other members of both CDNT’s and PCCC teams. Participate in research projects as appropriate. Principal Duties and Responsibilities The Speech and Language Therapist, Clinical Specialist will: Identify and prioritise the requirements of the service. Provide clinical lead in the development and implementation of integrated care pathways. Ensure that professional standards are maintained through clinical audit, supervision and training. Keep abreast of research and practice developments. Be responsible for a clinical caseload. Collaborate and effectively communicate with all the relevant stakeholders. Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and/ or experience 1. Candidates for appointment must: Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU. Have 5 years full time (or equivalent) years post qualification clinical experience. Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence in the specialism. Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism. Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Speech & Language Therapist Register maintained by CORU before a contract of employment can be issued. Health A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office. Character Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character. Skills, competencies and/or knowledge Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge and evidence based practice. Demonstrates an ability to plan and manage the delivery of an optimum service. Demonstrates advanced leadership and team skills.
