Job Description

Responsibilities Provide technical support to the project management, electrical engineering and civil engineering teams in relation to renewable energy projects during planning, pre-construction and construction stages. Assist with desktop studies of proposed and existing wind farm, solar farm, battery storage and substation projects. Assist with the preparation of tenders and specifications for various engineering contracts for renewable energy projects. Carry out site visits to monitor and review general progress and quality of contractors construction works. Carry out site visits to perform building inspections, steel and concrete inspections Review designsof civil and structural engineering elements of renewable energy projects, including roads, drainage, geotechnical design, wind turbine foundation, solar PV piling and mounting structures and other related infrastructure. Review designs of substation buildings, compounds and equipment plinths against ESB, EirGrid and Building Regulation requirements. Liaise with clients, contractors, site investigation companies and statutory bodies such as Inland Fisheries, OPW or TII. Support with the preparation of civil engineering, site layout and route survey drawings by the CAD team. Proficiency with AutoCAD is desirable, and experience with Civil 3D, Revit, Autotrack and Infraworks would be beneficial but not essential. Provide support to the team in relation to health and safety and quality documentation, including carrying out design risk assessments and on-site risk assessments and site audits. Assist the civil engineering and project teams with project cost estimates and tendering for design services. Build up a strong understanding of the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) or Principal Designer (PD) role. Provide input for the preparation of Employers Requirements and other technical documents for inclusion in construction contracts. Support PM team with review of tender documents from civil contractors. Support PM team in managing construction interfaces between contractors and other project stakeholders. Attend construction meetings both on site and remotely. Industry Knowledge Build and maintain knowledge of industry activity, relevant legislation and regulations applicable to the role and how they apply to the renewable and sustainable energy projects in relevant jurisdictions. Actively participate in CPD courses. Engagement with industry contractors, designers, and equipment suppliers to ensure awareness of best in class industry offerings and opportunities for additional efficiencies for Clients or potential cost savings. Person Requirements Educated to degree level (minimum Level 8) in civil engineering (essential). Minimum 3 years experience in civil engineering roles (essential). Civil engineering experience of renewable energy or civil engineering infrastructure projects would be a significant advantage. Working towards chartered membership of a professional body. Hold a current driving licence. Safe Pass and manual handling training (essential). Enthusiastic, self-motivated, strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively and flexibly within a small team environment. A keen interest in renewable energy and sustainability is desirable. Able to work from our Dublin office (hybrid working possible). Flexibility in relation to traveling and working on sites across Ireland. Legally entitled to work in Ireland.
