Job Description

My Dublin based client is recruiting for a Personal Injury Claims Handler to join the team. This is a 12 month fixed term contract. This role will be 2 days office / 3 days remote. Job Responsibilities The Claims Handler role is multifaceted and includes: High-volume case management Overseeing claims from initiation to final settlement. Claims assessment Determining necessary medical and financial requirements for each case. Proactive communication management Ensuring the timely and efficient resolution of claims by handling all incoming communications effectively. Customer service excellence Providing high-quality service in an efficient and friendly manner. Claims preparation Preparing personal injury claims for the assessment of general and special damages, in line with legal provisions. Legislative interpretation Accurately interpreting personal injury legislation and reviewing medical reports. Identifying complex cases Recognizing complex claims and determining the required course of action. Adaptability Demonstrating flexibility in response to changing caseloads in a dynamic environment. Collaboration with external bodies Coordinating with departments such as employment, revenue authorities, actuarial experts, and medical professionals to ensure that claims are assessed fairly and consistently. Liaison duties Communicating effectively with internal departments, medical experts, and other professionals. Additional responsibilities Carrying out other tasks as directed by line managers or senior management in line with the role. Detailed knowledge of claims systems Understanding the processes related to personal injury claims and the broader claims handling landscape. Expertise in damages assessments Practical experience in assessing general and special damages, particularly in complex claims scenarios. Medical terminology Proficiency in medical terminology to interpret reports and determine the necessity for further examinations or specialist consultations. Understanding complex claims Identifying cases that require specialist attention and determining the necessary next steps. Special damages compilation Knowledge of the compilation of allowable special damages and the appropriate involvement of external experts such as motor engineers and loss adjusters. Welfare benefits and deductibility Knowledge of accident-related welfare benefits and how they impact the assessment of claims. Revenue-related claims Understanding tax-related issues when investigating claims for loss of earnings from employed and self-employed individuals. Experience Required 3 to 5 years of personal injury claims handling experience. Strong knowledge and ability to perform the functions of the role effectively. Proven experience in managing high-volume caseloads and delivering results. Ability to work under strict deadlines while maintaining high-quality output. Experience in applying insights from previous projects to current tasks. Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and management abilities. Proficiency in numerical and computer skills. Essential and Desirable Skills Previous insurance experience is essential. APA or CIP qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
