Climbing Wall Instructor required for West Wood Club, Clontarf Rd The Climbing Wall adds a fun element to keeping fit for both children and adults at West Wood Club. Safety is of paramount importance and some climbers may need reassurance and encouragement. The ideal candidate will have a passion for climbing and teaching others. The successful candidate will be a confident, friendly individual with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. The position of Climbing Wall Instructor at West Wood is a critical one. The Climbing Wall Instructor has the responsibility of delivering the West Wood service promise to the member and dealing with members on a constant basis. The level of service the Climbing Wall Instructor delivers can influence whether a member continues their membership at West Wood. A member will not continue if they are not achieving their desired goals. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively on all levels to all members. As a Climbing Wall Instructor, you will provide excellent customer service and climbing instruction to all levels of climbers. Climbing is both a fun and challenging sport that requires the climber to think strategically and problem solve in sometimes difficult situations. It will be your role to encourage members to push their personal comfort zones and physical fitness. The wall is open from 2pm to 10pm Monday to Friday, and 1pm to 7pm on weekends and bank holidays. Successful candidates will occasionally need to be available outside of these times to work with outside groups. Responsibilities will include: Monitor rock wall area to ensure safety of all climbers. Provide general instruction on climbing techniques in a fun, enthusiastic, and safe environment for members of all ages and abilities. Maintaining and storing equipment at the end of each day. Training will be provided. Setting new climbs on the wall. Training will be provided Candidates should: Have at least two years of experience working in a climbing wall. A Climbing Wall Instructor award is essential. Have good communication skills and be able to articulate climbing knowledge in an understandable way. Demonstrate a positive, friendly and professional manner at all times when meeting and greeting Club members, guests and potential members. Member retention is an extremely important component of your role. As a Climbing Wall Instructor, you will, at all times deliver exceptional service levels, ensuring member satisfaction and thus contributing towards a vibrant Club atmosphere. The successful candidate: Will preferably be CWI/RCI qualified. Will have a minimum of 2 years climbing experience. First Aid and Child Protection training would be an advantage.
