Job Description

The Hermitage Clinic is a private hospital in Dublin, providing advanced medical care with state-of-the-art facilities. The Clinical Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the hospital's medical equipment is maintained and functioning properly.

Job Summary: The Clinical Engineer is responsible for the provision of a professional clinical engineering support service to the hospital, ensuring the safe and effective operation of medical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and Implement a Medical Equipment Programme: Develop and manage a programme to ensure the quality and safety of clinical systems, equipment performance, and maintenance.
  • Provide Comprehensive Maintenance: Inspect and test all clinical equipment according to manufacturers' recommendations, ensuring it is in good working order.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of all clinical equipment, ensuring that stock levels are adequate and that equipment is properly stored and maintained.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with internal stakeholders and commercial companies to ensure effective communication and cooperation.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Perform routine quality assurance checks and measurements on all clinical equipment, ensuring that it meets professional standards.
  • Equipment Management: Contribute to the development and use of the department's equipment management database, ensuring that equipment is properly tracked and maintained.
  • Support for Research and Development: Contribute to the support of research activities in various departments, ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and available for research purposes.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Report any abnormal or unusual results or measurements to relevant stakeholders, ensuring that equipment performance is properly documented.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A recognised diploma in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering or Physics, or a recognised qualification to at least equivalent standard.
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the medical device industry, with a focus on medical equipment.
  • Experience operating in a complex, fast-paced environment.
