Lead a team of nurses in an Endoscopy department, providing quality patient care and managing daily operations.

Job Description:

The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 Endoscopy is responsible for the provision of quality service in line with standards of Endoscopy nursing practice.

  • As a key member of the frontline management team, the CNM1 in Endoscopy will demonstrate managerial and leadership skills and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in the hospital.
  • The position requires a participative approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives.
  • The CNM 1 will assist the CNM 3 with service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity, schedules and resources within the clinical area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations:
    • Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, implementation, and review of care.
    • Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct as laid down by the Nursing Midwifery Board Ireland and Professional Clinical Guidelines.
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Provide clinical and management leadership for Staff Nurses and support staff and ensure an effective learning environment for the multidisciplinary team and take an active part in the delivery of care as appropriate.
    • Work within the code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, participation in the development of the Scope of Practice and provide strong professional leadership and direction for nursing services.
  • Quality Improvement and Risk Management:
    • Ensure that there is compliance with all relevant Hermitage Clinic guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
    • Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement across the department involving the team in continuous improvement initiatives and encouraging innovation.

Essential Criteria:

  • Knowledge/Experience:
    • Be registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI.
    • Have at least five years recent relevant post-registration nursing experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in an acute hospital setting and a minimum of two years nursing experience in Endoscopy.
  • Skills/Competencies:
    • Clinical Skills:
      • Have a recognised post-registration nursing course - Higher Diploma or Post Grad course, in Endoscopy nursing or equivalent, or a commitment to undertake within an agreed timeframe.
    • Management skills:
      • Have experience in compliance with Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation standards and participation in JAG-related activities.
